So it's been a minute...

Hello friends and family,
Thanks for watching out for me. I took some time away from the blog. I needed to take a second to re think some of my ideals... OK that's total bullshit. I got in trouble. Yes my beer drinking was a problem. I got a DWAI in October of 2011. It was a real damper on my wallet, friends, family, and drinking.
See what they do not tell you about getting a DUI/ DWAI is that in our beautiful state and county of Jefferson in Littleton that you must take mandatory UA's. Yes, that is short for Urine Analysis and yes to put the rumors to rest you have to pee in a cup in front of a total stranger! As if that isn't enough, you must do that for the entire duration of your probation and in my case that is 18 super long months of not drinking.
There are ways around it. You can drink once you have taken your UA for the month or you can drink on the weekends if you're not monitored. I did both of those because you know once a beer drink, always a beer drinker. What I did not anticipate is I was a nervous wreck after every UA until the results came back. I was awful! Nothing is worse than wanting a drink while you wait a week to hear about if you did not drink enough water or not. So I did what I was trying avoid this whole time... I went sober, and I still am. My last day of probation is AUGUST 16th!!!!!!!!!
That is right my friends I will be a free bird! Its been a long hard road to completion but I have done it!
Now I know you are asking yourself what does this have to do with you? Well my friends I will be back on the beer train and ready to rock your world.

Geeks Who Drink

Beer is the second most popular drink in the world, falling right behind tea. This makes total and complete sense to me because beer dates back to at least 4000 BC. The earliest recorded recipe for brewing beer is from the ancient Babylonians and the oldest known written recipe is for beer. Beer has been and will always be a part of our history; from FDR promising during his campaign for president in 1932 that he would put an end to prohibition to a recent study at the University of Illinois suggesting that drinking beer may make you smarter.
If you’re a brew nerd like me you should know some of these small facts so the next time that you are at “Geeks Who Drink” trivia night you can show off some of your new found knowledge.
As a lady wanting to get into an all boys club I was a little discouraged until I found out that in mid evil Europe brewing and baking went together and who else than the little women folk to do the brewing. Beer wives was the not so flattering nick name given to these ladies but the paved the way for beer none the less. Women and beer have come a long way, especially in America. The US started brewing beer with mostly rice to give it a lighter taste so that it would appeal to the women’s market.
For the longest time I could not figure out why my best friend Sarah was able to hold her beer better than me. I could never keep up and I can never drink as much as she can. This girl can get her B- complex vitamins. After all these years I have finally figured it out; she is German. In the early 1800’s women were encouraged to drink seven pints a day in order to adequately breast feed their children. This number was later reduced after the government found two pints a day to be sufficient enough. The Germans were literally bread to be beer drinkers! WTF?! I get it now.
In the year 1756 a very smart man signed a 9000 year lease on a building in Dublin. That man was Arthur Guinness and his descendants have been brewing beer there since. Guinness sells an average of 7 million glasses a day!
Delicious! Take your new beer knowledge to trivia! Good luck my friends!

Welcome to beer blog! YUM!

Hello to all! My name is Chrissy and I am a beer lover. This little blog is more or less of a way for me to try new beers and maybe even give me the motivation I need to start brewing my own beer and maybe even get a job in the industry.
So here it goes my first blog which sounds lame.
To quote a wise man, “Beer is either delicious or amazing!” That was one wise man. I didn’t know it at the time but he gave me the best beer advice… well life advice. Less than a few weeks later I turned 21 and that was the end of it. I became a lover of beer with a mistress of crown royal whiskey.
I feel I might need to explain the delicious and amazing rule a little more in depth. I will admit there are some beers out there that I am not too fond of however they are still amazing. Take PBR for example. My very handsome boyfriend loves a PBR from time to time. He actually says that it’s his favorite light beer. I on the other hand do not enjoy a PBR as he would but I will tell you that on a hot summer day, being on the college kid budget, and there is a $4 PBR Tall Boy special I will admit that a PBR is amazing. Guinness is one of those beers that are just downright delicious! Think about it… that’s where Irish Car Bombs comes from. Nobody would have thought that mixing a little Jameson, Bailey’s, and a little dark rich Guinness would make such a delicious beverage.
There it is. There is the rule and I am going to stick to it.
