Hello to all! My name is Chrissy and I am a beer lover. This
little blog is more or less of a way for me to try new beers and maybe even
give me the motivation I need to start brewing my own beer and maybe even get a
job in the industry.
So here it goes my first blog which sounds lame.
To quote a wise man, “Beer is either delicious or amazing!”
That was one wise man. I didn’t know it at the time but he gave me the best beer
advice… well life advice. Less than a few weeks later I turned 21 and that was
the end of it. I became a lover of beer with a mistress of crown royal whiskey.
I feel I might need to explain the delicious and amazing
rule a little more in depth. I will admit there are some beers out there that I
am not too fond of however they are still amazing. Take PBR for example. My
very handsome boyfriend loves a PBR from time to time. He actually says that it’s
his favorite light beer. I on the other hand do not enjoy a PBR as he would but
I will tell you that on a hot summer day, being on the college kid budget, and
there is a $4 PBR Tall Boy special I will admit that a PBR is amazing. Guinness
is one of those beers that are just downright delicious! Think about it… that’s
where Irish Car Bombs comes from. Nobody would have thought that mixing a
little Jameson, Bailey’s, and a little dark rich Guinness would make such a
delicious beverage.
There it is. There is the rule and I am going to stick to
it.
Hi Chrissy! I'm Jen (I went to college with Jesse), and I think you should check out my friend's brother's brewing company in Louisiana! It's called Gnarly Barley, and they have been gaining a lot of popularity this year!

I've been trying to get into beer (cocktails are too expensive!), but I don't really know where to start. I guess I'm more of a Hefeweizen fan (my recent fav is Franziskaner Weissbier). I like your blog theme, and I was wondering what your favorite beer is so far? And do you recommend any brands of wheat beer that I should try?
Ms. Jen-
DeleteWell you have come to the right place. Its good to talk to you:)
I will check into your friends beer and maybe even try it in the next week.
This next week will be my favorite places to drink in denver, however, I can tell you that I will look into a few Hefeweizens and get back to you by wednesday!
As far as wheats go... I am a Colorado based girl and I am spoiled and I have two of my favorite breweries right here in town.
Start with the blue moon... BUT try it with a lemon. It sounds weird but wheat doesnt always mean an orange. This should put a twist on an old classic.
Then try Sunshine wheat by New Belgium. and again try it once with an orange and them again with a lemon. (I prefer lemon just because it gives it a sweet taste without making the beer too sweet and also brings the flavors of the beer to your platet without over powering it.)
After that look into some Agave Wheat by Breckenridge Brewery! I also do this one with a lemon but I would say that it doesnt need a garnish.
If you are looking for something on the sweeter side I would look in Hazed and Infused Wild Blue. Its got a high alcohol content and tastes like a fizzy blueberry! haha!
As far as my favorite beer goes... I dont really have a favorite. Beer is delicious or amazing! I would say that if the place doesnt have anything that I find worth trying or drinking I always love a Fat Tire by New Belgium or Guinness. Cant go wrong:)
I have gotten into IPA's but if you're just starting out I can't say that you would enjoy one right off the bat. I would say that Wheat beers are a GREAT start. Over the next week or so start to try those beers that I recommended and also think about what sort of flavors you like. And if you dont mind me asking, what are you drinking when youre not drinking beer and maybe I can help you more from there.
I hope that this was helpful:)
